Our technical staff will be pleased to
discuss your application, and the details involved in producing
mixtures to your specific requirements. There are numerous restrictions
in producing gas mixtures, a few of these are discussed in the
following paragraphs.
- Reactive Gas Mixtures: Certain gases react
with the internal walls of the cylinder, affecting the stability
of the desired gas mixture. SpecAir uses treated aluminum cylinders
for gas mixtures of this type. These specially prepared cylinders
will maintain stability of reactive gas components such as SO2,
H2S, NO, and NO2 in low concentrations.
Some gases can react with others in the cylinder under high
pressure conditions causing unstable mixtures or unwanted side
products. If request a mixture of this nature, our Technical
staff will advise you of possible side reactions and provide
you with options.
- Mixtures of Oxidizers and Flammable Gases:
Certain concentrations of flammable gases can be produced provided
they meet certain safety criteria. A general rule is that the
desired concentration does not exceed 50% of the lower flammability
limit of the desired gas. Other mixtures are available provided
the lie above or below the flammable range, or they are low
in oxidizer content.
- Cylinder Pressure: Certain components with
low vapor pressures can be mixed in the gas phase at reduced
cylinder pressure. Mixtures of this type include many organic
chemicals which are normally liquids at room temperature.
Mixtures of this type will have a higher cylinder pressure as
the desired concentration of the low vapor pressure components
is reduced.
- Cylinder Outlet Connection: SpecAir chooses
cylinder valve outlet connections in accordance with CGA guidelines.
This system provides elements in safety and compatibility to
protect both the user as well as the producer of the gas mixture.
for all mixtures, the proper connections is determined after
the composition and concentration has been specified.
